The One With My Best Friend Since Second Grade

It was in the fall of 1986 when I met someone on a slide during recess at my elementary school.  Little did I know that that sweet face would be my new friend for the rest of my life.

Fast forward to this past weekend, and I am roaming around Sacramento's awesome parks and neat local spots (The Urban Spoon go now... you'll thank me later) while snapping some really cute pictures of her awesome family.  I just love seeing how much her kids have grown and how much fun they have together!

The One Where I Attempted the Milky Way

First of all, I have to give props to all those gorgeous night time shots you see on the internet.  I have a new found respect for photographers who capture amazing star trails and dreamy Milky Way shots.  It is no easy task!  All the conditions have to align, new moon, no light pollution, and hopefully an open space, but not too open.  Oh and it also helps if you have someone else to keep you company and safe, because the woods in the dark is pretty creepy. Plus, there are bears and of course crazy bugs.

So, did I mention you have to stay up way late?  I am not a night owl so staying up past 11PM was a challenge, especially since I know my kids are going to wake me up at 6AM the next morning. Nevertheless, it was fun to take this picture...I swear.

The One With the Farewell Party

Over the weekend I was not only a guest at this going away party for a sweet friend, but I was honored that she wanted me to capture some memories with friends and family, There were tears of sadness and joy. It was bittersweet to document this fun farewell.

The One with All the Nerves

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a huge fan of the show Friends.  So, naturally all my blog posts titles will be an homage to my "Friends." You're welcome.

My first one:  A few weeks ago my three year old asked me for a cup of water, and at that moment I was busy doing something. He looked at me and said, "I think I can get it. Yeah, I'm big." He stood on his tippy-toes and got himself a cup of water from the refrigerator.

So like my small, growing child, I too will stand tall on my tippy-toes and try to reach for things I need/want in my life.  Even if it means going out of my comfort zone and feeling super nervous about what's to come.
